A Montenegran court has made a pivotal decision, greenlighting the extradition of cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Do Kwon. The consequent role to determine if Kwon will ultimately face charges in South Korea or the United States now rests on the shoulders of a minister. Both nations have expressed their strong desire to have him extradited and are eager to proceed with legal proceedings. Kwon is currently facing grave charges in the U.S. for a multibillion-dollar fraud scheme that has caused quite a stir on an international level.
Originally apprehended for using doctored passports, Kwon and an unnamed ally were condemned to four months imprisonment in June. In the wake of the U.S. charges being publicized, Kwon’s legal council remained conspicuously silent and were unresponsive to appeals for commentary. In contrast, a representative for Terraform Labs, the company Kwon established, was vocal in expressing their willingness to challenge the “misguided and deeply flawed” U.S. allegations in court. The firm took a strong defensive stance in July, laying down a clear intention to actively counter these serious charges.
