Given the state of affairs in the recent discourse, an almost unprecedented scenario has appeared, one that involves an overwhelming 95% of a company’s employee base. They have taken a solid stance – if the company’s board does not accede to resigning, they threaten to tender their resignations and move to industry heavyweight, Microsoft. This emphatic threat only underscores the escalating tension and dissatisfaction brewing amongst these employees towards the administrative course plotted by their current board of directors.
This dire situation presents itself as a major corporate crisis – one that could potentially hamper organizational effectiveness, productivity, and even sabotage its market reputation. A mass exodus of experienced and skilled employees to Microsoft may not only adversely affect the company’s strategic objectives, but it also might prove advantageous to Microsoft. The latter would be gaining a sudden influx of talent possessing not just sector-specific skillsets, but possibly some internal business knowledge of the competitor. It’s a ticking time bomb that the board must diffuse promptly in order to preserve company morale and prevent a catastrophic hollowing out of their workforce.
