According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla China sold 74,073 vehicles in September, which is a 10.9% decrease compared to the same period last year. This also represents an 11.98% decline from the 84,159 vehicles sold in August. The figures include vehicles sold domestically in China as well as those exported to foreign countries. Despite the decline in sales for September, Tesla still had strong sales for the third quarter overall. In Q3 2023, Tesla sold 222,517 vehicles made in China, showing an 18.16% increase compared to the previous year. These sales accounted for 51.15% of Tesla’s global deliveries. It is important to note that Tesla’s domestic sales were affected in September due to the absence of the Model 3 sedan, which makes up a significant portion of the company’s sales in China. However, with the upcoming launch of the new Model 3 and aggressive expansion plans this fourth quarter, Tesla China’s sales are expected to improve significantly.
