BTC Goes on Offensive, Reaches 7-Week High at $28,500
Bitcoin, the primary cryptocurrency, has experienced a significant surge in value, reaching a nearly 7-week peak at $28,500. This comes as a stark contrast to the previous week when BTC experienced a significant drop. The altcoins are also performing well, with notable gains from Solana, Cardano, OP, MATIC, and others.
Just a week ago, BTC fell by over $500 and dipped below $26,000 for the first time in two weeks. However, the bulls quickly stepped in and prevented further declines. BTC started recovering its lost ground and spiked towards $27,000 in the middle of the week. While it initially faced resistance at that level, it rallied once more a few days later, surpassing the $27,000 mark.
Despite encountering some resistance, bitcoin continued to hold strong and reached $28,500 during the Asian trading session on Monday, marking its highest level since August 17. Although it has dipped slightly since then, BTC is still trading above $28,000. Its market capitalization has also soared above $550 billion, solidifying its dominance over other cryptocurrencies.
In addition to bitcoin’s impressive performance, many alternative coins, including Ethereum and Binance Coin, have also experienced gains. Ripple, Cardano, Dogecoin, Tron, Toncoin, Polkadot, Polygon, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash have all seen increases of up to 5%. However, Solana has stood out with a staggering 14% surge, reaching a multi-month high close to $25.
The positive performance of both bitcoin and altcoins has boosted the total crypto market cap by over $40 billion in a day, pushing it to a local peak above $1.120 trillion.
