ZK Compression leverages ZK proofs to minimize the costs associated with creating tokens and accounts on Solana. However, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko defends the initiative, clarifying its distinction from typical L2 solutions. According to Yakovenko, it operates like an L2 but without the common downsides, such as the need for a security council multisig or a change in chain ids.
