As reported by Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), there is a significant increase in the production of silver. The data shows an increase of 4.2% in October 2023 compared to the same month in the previous year. In numerical terms, this means the production saw a rise from 266,589 kilograms or 8.6 million ounces (Moz) in October 2022 to 277,746 kilograms or 8.9 Moz in October 2023. Peru has secured its standing as the third-largest silver-producing country in the world.
The rise in silver production is an indication of the continued growth of the mining sector, despite the various challenges present. This ascent also promotes Peru’s robust role in the global silver market, contributing significantly to world silver production. The growth in production is indeed a promising sign for the industry and the global market, setting unprecedented growth patterns. It also implies increased revenue from silver exports for the South American country.
