Following the trend of record online spending on Black Friday, Adobe Analytics anticipates a significant rise in spending on Cyber Monday sales by Americans. A projection indicates that online spending will increase by about 5.4% from the previous year, hitting approximately $12 billion, in addition to the $10 billion spent over the holiday weekend and the record-breaking $9.8 billion splurge on Black Friday. The adoption of substantial holiday-season discounts by retailers is seen as a necessary incentive to attract shoppers who may be on a tight budget.

Data collated from Adobe Experience Cloud service, a platform that tracks online spending trends, showed that overall sales during ‘Cyber Week’, a period encompassing five days beginning from Thanksgiving, was a 5.4% increase from the previous year, amounting to about $37.2 billion. This, according to Adobe, might be a reflection of the gradual shift in lifestyle dynamics towards hybrid and work-from-home structures and a growing younger consumer demographic. Furthermore, for the first time on record, Adobe anticipates sales made through mobile devices on Cyber Monday to surpass orders from desktop computers. They further disclosed that this favorable environment for consumers is a result of the decline in online prices over the last year, attracting even the most cost-conscious consumers.
