Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has instructed its users to convert their fiat Euro balances into Tether’s USDT by the end of October following the loss of support from its banking partner, Paysafe. In an update on September 28th, Binance announced that Paysafe had unilaterally decided to stop processing EUR deposits, resulting in disruptions to various Binance services, including the suspension of deposits and EUR spot trading pairs trading activities. Binance has advised its Paysafe users to take appropriate actions, with the option to directly withdraw their funds into their bank accounts if they do not wish to convert their EUR balances into USDT. The exchange is also actively working on integrating new fiat channels onto Binance in the coming future.
In response to Paysafe’s sudden withdrawal of services, Binance claims that this action is inaccurate. In June, Paysafe stated that it was collaborating with Binance to ensure a structured conclusion of their integrated wallet services for the platform throughout the EEA region. Binance had also confirmed this development at the time. Prior to the Euro issues, Paysafe had already ceased processing British Pound transactions for Binance due to regulatory challenges in the UK.
Binance has been facing challenges in securing new banking partners worldwide as regulators increase scrutiny over its operations. The exchange has previously suspended US Dollar-denominated fiat transfers and its US subsidiary, Binance US, transitioned to operating as a crypto-only exchange after banking partners halted their services. Additionally, Binance recently sold its Russian business to a newly formed crypto exchange due to compliance concerns. Despite these challenges, Binance is actively working on finding new solutions and aims to provide a seamless experience for its users.
