SpaceX successfully launched their 100th dedicated Starlink mission after a delay caused by Hurricane Hilary. The launch took place at 2:37 a.m. PT from Vandenberg Space Force Station and included the deployment of 21 V2 mini Starlink satellites. This brings the total number of Starlink satellites launched to 4,983, with 269 of them being the V2 mini variant.
The Falcon 9 rocket used for this mission, B1061, completed its 15th launch and landing. It touched down on the droneship “Of Course I Still Love You” approximately eight and a half minutes after liftoff. This successful mission marked SpaceX’s 57th launch of the year, putting the company just a few missions away from breaking their yearly record of 61 launches.
SpaceX is already preparing for their next Starlink launch, scheduled for the same evening with a 15% chance of violating weather constraints. However, if there are any delays, it is likely to be pushed back after the higher priority Crew 7 mission scheduled for August 25th. Interestingly, this recent launch did not feature a webcast host, most likely due to the delays, and instead played the launch audio from mission control.
