Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer has spoken out against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s request for leave in the ongoing legal battle between the two entities. In a recent statement, the officer stated that there are no “extraordinary circumstances” in the case that would justify the Court accepting the SEC’s request.
The legal battle between Ripple and the SEC has been ongoing for some time, with the SEC accusing Ripple of selling unregistered securities in the form of the XRP cryptocurrency. Ripple, on the other hand, argues that XRP does not qualify as a security and therefore should not fall under the SEC’s jurisdiction.
In response to the SEC’s request for leave, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer maintains that the SEC has failed to provide any evidence of wrongdoing on Ripple’s part or demonstrate any compelling reason for the Court to grant their request. The officer believes that the case should proceed as planned, allowing both parties to present their arguments and evidence in a fair and impartial manner.
